Bridges High School Launches Alternative Education Redesign
The Jefferson County School District is building upon the successes in alternative education options offered at Bridges High School. The purpose of this redesign is to give students the opportunity to get more hands on, real world education that is steeped in opportunities.
Bridges will provide numerous opportunities to students so they can engage in thematic learning that will have real world application, smaller classes, flexible scheduling, and hands on learning. Any Junior or Senior looking for an alternative choice can apply to attend Bridges High School. Applications to attend Bridges this fall will be available in the next couple weeks.
In this process, Bridges is growing its teaching staff. In years past, the school has had two direct instruction teachers while the rest is online learning. Starting in the Fall, Bridges will increase the teaching staff to better serve the needs of students. There will be a mixture of both online and in-person classes offered to students.
“We are looking to shift towards a more student-centered approach that prepares students for life after high school at Bridges without also abandoning who we’ve been,” Principal Jay Weeks said. “Students have left our school feeling accomplished and proud of what they’ve done over the course of their high school career.”
In addition to the increased alternative education opportunities, Bridges will also still be offering credit recovery opportunities. This can help students learn at their own pace and prepare them for a successful life post high school.
The students at Bridges are what make it an amazing place to work and learn. The district is excited to serve students more opportunities to flourish in life.
“When students leave here, they are built up, they’re experiencing that positive environment and culture and they have that hope,” School Counselor Seth Burke said. “When they have that hope they’re able to dream, and when they’re able to dream, then they can dare to dream, and dream to succeed.”
Jefferson County School District also offers a robust CTE program at Madras High School that offers courses in Agriculture Sciences, Business Construction Technology, Graphics Technology Health Sciences, Manufacturing Technology, Natural Resources and Early Childhood Education.

La Escuela Secundaria Bridges lanza un rediseño de la educación alternativa
El Distrito Escolar del Condado de Jefferson está construyendo sobre los éxitos en las opciones de educación alternativa que se ofrecen en Bridges High School. El propósito de este rediseño es dar a los estudiantes la oportunidad de obtener más manos en la educación del mundo real que está llena de oportunidades.
Bridges proporcionará numerosas oportunidades a los estudiantes para que puedan participar en el aprendizaje temático que tendrá una aplicación en el mundo real, clases más pequeñas, programación flexible y aprendizaje práctico. Cualquier junior o senior que busque una opción alternativa puede solicitar asistir a Bridges High School. Las solicitudes para asistir a Bridges este otoño estarán disponibles en las próximas dos semanas.
En este proceso, Bridges está aumentando su personal docente. En años pasados, la escuela ha tenido dos profesores de instrucción directa, mientras que el resto es aprendizaje en línea. A partir del otoño, Bridges aumentará el personal docente para atender mejor las necesidades de los estudiantes. Habrá una mezcla de clases en línea y en persona ofrecidas a los estudiantes.
“Estamos buscando cambiar hacia un enfoque más centrado en el estudiante que prepare a los estudiantes para la vida después de la escuela secundaria en Bridges sin abandonar también lo que hemos sido”, dijo el director Jay Weeks. “Los estudiantes han dejado nuestra escuela sintiéndose realizados y orgullosos de lo que han hecho a lo largo de su carrera en la escuela secundaria”.
Además del aumento de las oportunidades de educación alternativa, Bridges también seguirá ofreciendo oportunidades de recuperación de crédito. Esto puede ayudar a los estudiantes a aprender a su propio ritmo y prepararlos para una vida exitosa después de la escuela secundaria.
Los estudiantes de Bridges son los que lo convierten en un lugar increíble para trabajar y aprender. El distrito está emocionado de servir a los estudiantes más oportunidades de prosperar en la vida.
“Cuando los estudiantes se van de aquí, están edificando, están experimentando ese ambiente y cultura positivos y tienen esa esperanza”, dijo el consejero escolar Seth Burke. “Cuando tienen esa esperanza son capaces de soñar, y cuando son capaces de soñar, entonces pueden atreverse a soñar, y soñar para tener éxito”.
El Distrito Escolar del Condado de Jefferson también ofrece un sólido programa de CTE en Madras High School que ofrece cursos en CienciasAgrícolas, Tecnología de Construcción de Negocios, Ciencias de la Salud de Tecnología gráfica, Tecnología de Fabricación, Recursos Naturales y Educación de la Primera Infancia.
