8th Annual Holiday Gala

December 9, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

A tradition since the building opened, the Holiday Gala will again take place at the Madras Performing Arts Center in December.

This year’s event, the eighth annual, takes place Saturday, Dec. 9, with curtain opening at 7 p.m.

Each year has featured a bevy of different performers — some Madras-based, others regionally, from Central Oregon and even the Portland Metro area — and always the musical performances are interspersed with dancing, ranging from classical ballet to more contemporary genres of dance like tap, hip hop and even hula.

This year’s show will feature performances by local folk/bluegrass artist Amanda Weaver, Dove award winner John Curnutt, and more local performers, including Madras High School senior and piano prodigy Lincoln Delamarter. Dancers from Dance Arts Unlimited will also be featured.

The annual Community Choir is forming again to perform the finale — Handel’s Messiah — Hallelujah Chorus.

Anyone who loves to sing is invited to participate and join the choir. A rehearsal will be held Monday, Dec. 4 at the Madras United Methodist Church (49 NE 12th St. in Madras) beginning at 7 p.m.

This performance piece is traditionally performed in multi-part harmonies, so the choir needs a range of voices, especially male (in particular bass) singers.

Tickets for the event are $5 and are available at the PAC box office, Dance Arts Studio (13 SW F St., in Madras) and at the Madras-Jefferson County Chamber of Commerce (274 SW Fourth St., Madras), or at the door while they last.

The gala has been performed every year since the PAC opened in 2014. In fact, it served as the facility’s grand opening in December 2014. It has been held every year since except during the pandemic years of 2020 and 2021.
