2JCMS Families,

Thank you for your support during comprehensive distance learning over the last few months. We know there is a learning curve for us all, but we appreciate the way you have worked alongside us during this time. We are thankful for this partnership as we are all striving to provide the best education for your student.

We are closely watching the positivity rate in our county in hopes of returning to school fully in-person. Currently, we are working on a plan throughout the district to bring small groups of students to school. Although we wish this could be every student, every day, that is not a possibility at this time. Accessibility has been a barrier for many, especially to our most struggling students. The JCMS team is working to take a small step to break through that barrier.

On January 12, JCMS will bring back limited in-person small groups of sixth through eighth-graders. JCMS Limited In-Person Instruction (LIPI) is scheduled from 1:20 pm to 3:20 pm. It is our hope to eventually be able to offer this same support for all students.  Our updated CDL schedule is as follows:

Flexible 5 will still be available for support and/or electives.

  • Limited In-Person groups will meet either T/W (Tuesday/Wednesday) or Th/F (Thursday/Friday)
  • Students will need to bring their backpack with Chromebook (and charger), textbooks, and supplies each day. They will also take their things home each day as they will be used for CDL.

Grade level teachers will be making phone calls and/or sending emails to you and your child. Please check your email, your child’s email, or any phone messages for more details.

Transportation: Bus route stops and times will be posted on the district website.

JCMS doors will open promptly at 1:20 pm. Students will enter the building through a designated area and go straight to their assigned class. Students getting dropped off will need to wait in their car until a staff member opens the school doors. Walkers will need to time their walks to school to arrive no earlier than 1:20 pm.

Students walking or getting dropped off

  • Doors will open at 1:20 pm (please time your walk or drop off accordingly).
  • Students will be dismissed at 3:20 pm and need to be picked up by 3:25 pm.
  • Enter/exit through the front main entrance.
  • Temperature checks and visual screening will be done at each entrance.
  • Students will be greeted and sent to their assigned classroom.

Students arriving using district buses

  • Students will be greeted and sent to a designated entrance.
  • Temperature checks and visual screening will be done at each entrance.
  • Once in the building students will head straight to their assigned classroom.

Safety and Cohorts: We are taking steps to be sure we are able to meet cleaning and distancing guidelines safely. Students must wear a mask at all times. Masks will be made available at school. All students and staff will follow social distancing guidelines and frequently wash hands. Hand sanitizer will be provided throughout the school. You are encouraged to bring your water bottle. Due to cohort size restrictions, your students will be limited to interacting with no more than their assigned class. These safety and cohort mandates are required by the Governor.
