Jefferson County School District 509J’s groundbreaking ceremony celebrates the start of Madras High School Soccer Complex Construction. This project was made possible by voters supporting the November 2021 Bond.

The ceremony kicked off with Superintendent Jay Mathisen welcoming everyone and acknowledging our soccer players in attendance. JCSD 509J Board Chair, Kevin Richards, then said a few words followed by MHS Soccer Captain and Student Rep to the School Board, Yael Carlon.

Dirt was tossed at the groundbreaking of the new MHS soccer complex. JCSD 509J Board Members, Mathisen, Principal Tony Summers, and MHS Soccer players tossed the first dirt before construction begins. Families, JCSD 509J faculty & staff, and community members came out to support during the ceremony.

Thanks to the community’s passage of the 2021 Bond, the district will conduct a number of facility upgrades, including:

  • New field lights,
  • Expanded concrete pathways
  • Upgraded gates for security; and
  • A new, 2,000 square-foot field house with concession space, restrooms, athlete locker rooms, and a shared coaches office.

The estimated completion date for the project is Fall 2023.
