Native Language Program

Our Native Language program honors and sustains the languages and cultures of the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs through a strong partnership with the tribes. At MHS, students can enroll in multi-year Native language courses offered in collaboration with Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs. At Warm Springs K-8 Academy, students can choose which of the three languages to learn and participate in daily lessons in grades K-8. 

Courses focus on developing foundational speaking and comprehension skills, including alphabet and sound systems, vocabulary, simple phrases while deepening understanding of tribal history, culture and traditions. 

As students advance, they strengthen fluency, cultural knowledge, and connections to community identity, gaining valuable language skills while helping preserve and revitalize Native languages for future generations.
