OAKS Testing

WSE students in grades 3-5 will begin the second round of the Oregon Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (OAKS) on March 16, 2012.  Students will take the online state assessments in reading and math during this time.  Fifth grade students will also do their first round of Science testing.  We hope to be finished with testing by Spring Break.  You can help your students do their best on the tests by making sure they get plenty of sleep during the testing weeks and by reminding them that you expect their very best efforts!  We're excited about this year's testing and are expecting great thin

Winter Weather Concerns

Hopefully, we're about finished with the cold/snowy/icy weather that causes late-starts and school closures.  Just a reminder that with either a late-start or a school closure, you will receive a phone call from the automated district calling program, letting you know about the change to the school day.  The call will go to the number that you gave the school when you registered your child.  You can also listen to KWSO for up-to-the-minute information.

New Tools for Learning!

Warm Springs Elementary has been able to purchase nearly 100 7" Android-based tablets for use in grade 2-5 classrooms.  The tablets are exciting new tools for the classroom and allow students to more frequently access building reading and math programs that are based online.  Students may use the tablets to access Accelerated Reader tests, WSE spelling tests, Math Facts in a Flash practices/tests, Study Island test preparation lessons, and Education City's supplemental reading and math programs.
