Madras High School graduates arrived early at MHS Stadium with the full support of family, friends, and the community to celebrate them.

The day marked the end of their K-12 journey as they prepare to take the next steps in their lives.

Among those in attendance were, JCSD 509J Administrators including Superintendent Jay Mathisen, Board of Education Directors, and community members to celebrate the more than 120 students receiving their diplomas on June 4.

Brian Crook, Principal of Madras High, welcomed the families to the graduation and dubbed the class of 22 as the “Comeback Kids.” These students faced unprecedented times in their high school career when the COVID-19 pandemic upended their schooling back in March 2020. He shared how proud he and the staff at MHS are of this year’s graduating class.

Kurt Taylor, Dean of Students, spoke to the graduates. His speech was centered on continuing to get better every day and not settling for mediocrity.
